Birthday Addition of Faerie Friday

Normally I write my Faerie Friday post on Thursdays.  Yesterday was my birthday so I didn’t get around to it.  Hey, a girl only turns 34 once.

In honor of my birthday, I am doing something a little different for Faerie Friday.

Yes, something different.

I want you guys to tell me what your favorite creatures of lore and myth are.  I know you have them.

Please share!  Don't leave me hanging.

  1. Happy birthday!

I love them all so it's hard to choose. I am rather fond of kelpies, Scottish and Irish Fae in general, djinns are nice too...see my problem? :)

    1. I see your point. I couldn't name a favorite myself. Thanks for the birthday wishes!

  2. I'm always drawn to the dark side - banshees, vampires, and shape shifters. M.L. Guida

  3. Happy birthday!

I've always had a soft spot (no pun intended) for Achilles. Thanks to your blog, I am now exposed to so many more. For now, however, I stand by my choice. :)

  4. Happy Birthday again you are only 2 months younger than me :) but I dare say...a lot wiser. My favorite creatures are too many to fit your blog, but I'll just mention here unicorns and pixies :).

  5. I've always been partial to the myths of American settlers and how they mirror the American experience and expansion West. Paul Bunyan, the idea of the mountain man or the guy who is plucked from the civilization to live and thrive among the "savages" are some of the most transcendent of these tales. However and without question, the most compelling and indeed terrifying of these is the story of The Beast of Lakewood. And some say she still exists today...

    1. Indeed, the Beast of Lakewood is quite frightening!

  6. Vampires (that actually burst into flame when touched by sunlight, not light up like glitter sticks); dragons of course, the medieval kind; almost any creature found in Greek mythology puts a smile on my face...um, that's it. :-).

  7. Happy Birthday. My favorites have always been vampires, but thanks to your A to Z challenge posts, I have a new interest in Necks and even wrote a story w/ that creature as the main character.

    1. I've had a problem with vampires for years. It has to be because of my name. I've had to answer, "NO! I'm not a friggin vampire slayer," way too often. Cool about you Neck story!

    2. Heh, I would be too if I were you. If it makes you feel any better, my novel has the same title as a TV show, Being Human so I am constantly asked, "Do you know there's a TV show called that?" -.-

  8. Happy birthday!
Sometime back as a challenge from my writers group I wrote a fairy tale with a wichtelweib. A little evil methinks. I love characters with wings. Not a big fan of vampires, though, especially the ones that shimmer in the sunlight.
